Staffan Tunis (27) has got married since the last ski season, but that's made no difference to his sporting life. More time spent on studies has had a bigger influence.

Last year Helene Söderlund (22) was the only athlete to get a medal in every distance at the World Championships in ski orienteering. But now she is only 23rd overall in this year’s World Cup.

The Russians Natalya Tomilova and Kiril Veselov hold the lead in the Sprint World Cup standings after the mixed sprint relay, the last race in the Bulgaria round. Russia also holds a narrow lead in both the men’s and women’s Relay standings.

Ski Orienteering World Cup: Norwegians first and third in mixed sprint relay

The second round ended today with a mixed sprint relay for teams of two, skiing three legs each. The Norwegian team Marte Reenaas and Lars Moholdt was first to the finish with a lead of 1 minute and 20 seconds on a very successful day for Norway.

Ski Orienteering World Cup: Russians dominate Middle distance

Russian athletes took the first two places in the women’s race and the first three in the men’s in today’s Middle distance event in Uzana, Bulgaria. Race winners were Alyona Trapeznikova and Andrei Lamov.

World Cup overall leader Natalya Tomilova was beaten by just 2 seconds today by the up-and-coming Russian star Alyona Trapeznikova. Third was the Long distance winner from Wednesday, Marte Reenaas, Norway, 30 seconds down on Tomilova; it was a good day for Norway with two placings in the top six.

Technical Introduction to Trail Orienteering for Experienced Foot Orienteers

The IOF Trail Orienteering Commission has published a new document to introduce the discipline to foot orienteers. The document has been prepared in order to assist anyone who wishes to try trail orienteering and who would like to gain some familiarity with the format before stepping out on a course.

Updated guidelines published for World Masters and World Ranking Events

The IOF Foot Orienteering Commission has updated the Guidelines for World Masters Orienteering Championships and World Ranking Events. Both guidelines include significant changes to the previous versions.

Ski Orienteering World Cup: Huge success for Norway’s Reenaas

The rapidly improving Norwegian skier Marte Reenaas was the outstanding winner of the women’s Long distance mass start race at Uzana, Bulgaria today, finishing 44 seconds ahead of the highly experienced Finn Liisa Anttila. Andrey Grigoriev, Russia won convincingly in the men’s race.
